Obituary of Arthur B Smith
Arthur B. Smith of South River, passed away on May 3, 2020, of a long illness. He was 86 years old and a lifelong resident of South River. H e was a member of the Middlesex County Park Police, the New Jersey State Shell Fishery Division and a union Ironworker of Local 373 in Perth Amboy. As an Ironworker he built numinous buildings, roads and bridges in the state, including work on St. Peter's and Robert Wood Johnson hospitals. He was the owner of Main Street Florist. Arthur was also the founding member of the South River Boat Club. Art was an avid sportsman; he enjoyed fresh and salt water fishing in addition to hunting. He loved theses activities and taught his daughters and grandsons to appreciate them also. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Doris M. Corse Smith for whom he was married to for 60 years, parents Joseph and Anna Smith, 8 brothers and sisters and a son-in-law Paul Goepfert. He leaves behind his daughters Joann Smith-Goepfert, Sherry Smith and Kristeen Smith-Savoia, son-in-law John Savoia and his two beloved grandsons William Goepfert and Vincent Savoia. He was very proud of all their accomplishments. Services were entrusted to the Rezem Funeral Home 457 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick New Jersey and will be private due to Covid-19 federal restrictions on public gatherings.
