Obituary of Theresa Toolan Veverka
Theresa Toolan-Veverka passed away peacefully at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ on Thursday, November 22, 2018, surrounded by her loving husband and family. She was 80 years of age. Her devout faith in God was a true inspiration to all who knew her and she will be greatly missed by all.
Theresa was born in New York City and lived in Old Bridge for 30 years before moving to East Brunswick in 1998. She was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the office of Ronald Lau, M.D. in East Brunswick retiring after 16 years. A communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Old Bridge, she belonged to the St. Thomas Senior Choir, the Altar Rosary Society and the Legion of Mary. Her greatest joy, however, was in the role of wife, mother and grandmother.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Thomas Toolan, in 1990, her sister, Mary Fegenti, and brother, Daniel Mahoney.
She is survived by her husband, John Veverka, three sons & daughters- in-law: Thomas & Gretchen Toolan of Branchburg; Brian & Jillkerry Toolan of Colts Neck and Kevin & Patricia Toolan of Homdel; and four daughters and sons-in-law: Evelyn & Gary Iannarone of East Brunswick, Eileen & William Howarth of Freehold, Erin & Ashton Black of East Brunswick and Geralyn & Scott Grant of Toms River and 20 treasured grandchildren. She is also survived by her stepson and daughter-in-law Richard & Dana Veverka of Salem, VA; and three step daughters and sons-in-law: Kathleen & Dave Daly of Richmond, VA, Marianne & George Perneny of Pomton Lakes and Laura & James Rizza of Ringoes; and eight step grandchildren. Surviving also are her sister, Margaret Schneyer, of Madison and brother and sister-law, John & Anne Mahoney, of Leland, NC. She also leaves behind the extended Buckley and Toolan family members who through the years were a source of great joy.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 23rd from 4-8pm at Rezem Funeral Home, 457 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick, NJ.
A service will be held on Saturday, November 24th at 9am at Rezem Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:15am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Old Bridge, NJ. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
