Obituary of Chester Brandt
Chester A. Brandt, Sr., 86, of North Brunswick, died February 7, 2018 at RWJ Hospital in New Brunswick after a long illness.
Born on September 27, 1931, in South River, he lived in New Brunswick, East Brunswick, and South River before settling in the family home in North Brunswick.
He served in the US Army from 1948-1950. Prior to retiring, he worked for Mueller Machinery Co. in Metuchen. In addition, he enjoyed being a painter, landscaper, mason's helper and a scrapper of all things worth recycling. He had a strong work ethic and believed that "hard work keeps one young".
He was predeceased by his parents, Max and Tessie Brandt, his brothers Max Jr., and Kenny, wife Gloria and former wife Claire Travers Brandt, and a daughter Catherine Mulvey.
Surviving are his sons, Chester Brandt Jr. and his wife Jennifer of East Brunswick; Dr. Michael Brandt of Los Alamos, NM; and Dennis Brandt and his wife Mari of Santa Fe, NM, a daughter Mary Wasylyk and her husband Gary of East Brunswick, 8 grandchildren, Kelly Brandt and her husband Ricky Fenton, Chester Brandt and his wife Nika, Madison Brandt, Brandon and Michael Wasylyk, John Mulvey and wife Danielle, Sara Rauber and her husband Kenny, Patrick Mulvey and 6 great grandchildren, Ayden and Kendahl Brandt, Lyla and Juliette Fenton, Logan Mulvey and Olivia Rauber.
A Memorial Mass will take place on Saturday, February 17, at 10:00AM at Our Lady of Peace Church, North Brunswick. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Chester's memory may be sent to the South River Food Bank, 55 Reid Street, South River, NJ 08882.
