Obituary of Beverly Clarke
Beverly Ann Clarke passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 14th. She spent her younger years in Bloomfield, NJ and raised her family in East Brunswick, NJ. She and her husband Raymond retired to Port St. Lucie Florida in 1998. They returned to Monroe Township just this summer to be nearer their six sons, daughters-in-laws and 15 grandchildren.
Beverly graduated from Mount St Dominick's Academy, Caldwell, NJ in 1955 where she was president of her senior year class. She then went into nursing and graduated with an RN in Nursing from St Mary's Hospital School of Nursing, Orange, NJ in 1957. In 1956 she was chosen by the TV personality Garry Moore as Queen of Junior week at Villanova University in PA. In 1959 she married Raymond Clarke and accompanied him to Key West, FL where he was assigned to a US Navy destroyer escort. While in Florida she took the opportunity to practice private duty nursing.
Upon Rays release from active duty Bev returned to East Orange, Metuchen and finally East Brunswick NJ where she raised six sons; Kevin, Timothy, William, Jeffrey, Lawrence and Raymond III. She became very active as a women's auxiliary Board Member of then Middlesex General Hospital, organizing Broadway theatre trips. As the boys got older she returned to nursing working part time as a school nurse in East Brunswick.
In 1998 Bev and Ray moved to Ballantrae in Port St. Lucie, Florida and had 21 wonderful years enjoying the weather with many great friends in Florida.
Health problems prompted her decision to move back to Monroe Township, NJ this past summer to be nearer her six sons and their families, all of whom live within a half hour of Monroe
Everything Bev did she did with class. Every outfit had matching jewelry. Every meal was prepared with love and thoroughness. She especially enjoyed this past Thanksgiving when she hosted 23 family members in her new home. She loved being in the company of her 15 grandchildren, who adored her. She was a great listener. Even with her considerable health problems she always kept the conversation on subjects other than herself. She will be missed.
Bev was pre- deceased by her parents Chester and Margaret Bowden. She is survived by her husband Raymond, sons Kevin, Timothy, William, Jeffrey, Lawrence and Raymond III, her sister Sandra, and 15 Grandchildren Connor, Kieran, Timothy, Christie, Brett, Ryan, Mason, Brian, Jennifer, Dean, Owen, Ava, Grace, Caroline and Chad.
A visitation will be Tuesday, December 19th, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Rezem Funeral Home, 457 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick.
A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, December 20th, at 10:00am at St. Cecelia Church, Monmouth Junction. Interment will be private.
