Carmen J. Zaccaria

Carmen James Zaccaria passed away Thursday, February 8th at the Reformed Church Home in Old Bridge, NJ, surrounded by loving family. He was 92 years of age.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, Carmen was a veteran of the U.S. Army in WW II in India, where he achieved the rank of first sergeant. Upon his return, he attended La Salle University, from which he graduated. Carmen moved to South River, NJ in 1963, where his love of the town led him to become an elected member of the South River Board of Education, a member of the South River Municipal Alliance, a founding member of the Frost On The Pumpkin Race, a member of the South River Planning Board, a member of South River Office of Aging, past South River Republican Party Chairman and a member of Corpus Christi Church. Carmen's love of music resulted in his being a longtime member of Corpus Christi Church Choir , as well as the Imperial Music Center Chorus. Carmen worked as Personnel Director for Columbia Records, CBS Television in New York and Berlitz School of Languages. He was also an avid sports fan. Among his favorite teams were the Philadelphia Eagles, Penn State football, La Salle University basketball and the South River Rams.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Enis (Settimo) Zaccaria, who passed away in 2014.

He leaves behind his loving family; sons Joseph and wife Linda of Burlington, and James and wife Linda of East Brunswick, daughters Sandra and husband Harry Sassaman of South River and Victoria and husband Thomas Thompson of Browns Mills, and 9 grandchildren, Jennifer, Megan and husband Danny, Thomas, Michael, Jamie, Michelle, Joseph, James, and Christopher.

A visitation will take place on Thursday, February 15th from 6-9pm at Rezem Funeral Home, 457 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 16th at 8:30am at the funeral home, followed by a 10:00am Funeral Mass at Corpus Christi Church, South River, followed by entombment at Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum in South Brunswick.
