Biography
SOUTH RIVER - Sandor "Al" Lukacs died Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the Reformed Church Home, Old Bridge. He was 98.
Born in South River, he was a lifelong borough resident.
Prior to his retirement in 1967, he was an operator, and later a supervisor at Hercules in Parlin for 43 years, where he was a member of the 25 year club.
An Army Air Corps Veteran of WW II, he flew 30 missions over Europe in a B-17 Bomber, and was a member of the South River VFW.
A sports enthusiast, he played three sports in High School - baseball, basketball, and football under William C. Denny.
He was a member of the First Reformed Church, South River.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Makar Lukacs in 2005, and three brothers, William, Julius and Peter.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas and his wife Beth Lukacs of South River and Robert and his wife Eileen Lukacs of Hamilton; a sister in law, Helen Lukacs of South River; and three grandchildren, Meaghan, Kimberly and Susan.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM in the Rezem Funeral Home, 457 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick. Interment will follow at Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.
